Two dead, one hospitalized after crash in Shawano County

WAUKECHON, Wis. (WFRV) – Two people are dead and another was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Shawano County.

According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of County Road BE and County Road B in the Town of Waukechon.

A preliminary investigation indicates a pickup truck was traveling east on County Road BE when an SUV attempted to turn west onto BE from County Road B. Authorities say it appears the SUV failed to see the oncoming truck and was struck in the eastbound lane while turning.

The pickup was driven by a single occupant who suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The SUV was occupied by a 69-year-old woman and a 71-year-old passenger, both from the Bonduel area. Both were unresponsive when first responders arrived and died from their injuries despite life-saving efforts.

The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family. The crash remains under investigation by the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office.
