Speed, alcohol factor in two-vehicle Highway 29 crash in Shawano County

WAUKECHON, Wis. (WFRV) – One person was injured after a car rear-ended a pickup truck on Highway 29 in Shawano County Friday night, and deputies say speed and alcohol were a factor in the crash.

According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office, deputies got word of a crash on Highway 29 near CTH K in the Town of Waukechon around 9:55 p.m. on May 30.

Based on the deputies’ investigation, an eastbound car driven by a 21-year-old man from Green Bay on 29 rear-ended a pickup truck before ending up in the median, fully engulfed in flames.

The driver of the car was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured. However, a passenger in the truck, a 36-year-old woman from Green Bay, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

All five people inside the truck were wearing seatbelts.

The crash is under investigation. No other information was released.
