MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – Police in Wisconsin are urging residents to protect their valuables in the car after a report of a firearm being stolen from a parked vehicle overnight.
The Madison Police Department said that a report came in of a theft from a car, where a gun was taken from the parked vehicle.

According to the release, there was no sign of a forced entry, as the vehicle was likely unlocked. The gun was listed as stolen, as the Madison Police Department provided the following reminders:
- Lock your vehicle, no matter where it is
- Remove or cover all valuables in the vehicle
- Do not leave a firearm in the vehicle
- Close overhead garage doors even when home
