APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – Administrators with Xavier High School announced on Tuesday the appointment of a new principal.
In a release, William Welch was announced as the new principal for Xavier High School. The newly appointed principal comes after former principal, Mike Mauthe, was let go in November of 2024 for violating school policy.
Welch is said to have nine years of experience as a physics/science teacher, learning coach, athletic coach, and school leader in education.

He is currently serving as the Associate Principal of Williams Bay Middle/High School near Lake Geneva.
Welch’s experiences in collaborative teamwork, restorative practices, relationship-building, career and technical education, work-based learning, continuous improvement, data-focused learning, and collective ownership and responsibility for the learning success of all students are expected to help Xavier High School thrive.
Mr. Welch shares a deep understanding of the role faith plays in Catholic education, and we are excited about the future of Xavier High School and the positive impact he will have on students, families, faculty, and staff.
