New Indigenous-owned restaurant in Green Bay looks to provide affordably fast & fresh cuisine

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The newest restaurant in Green Bay is officially open for customers with the goal of serving great food but also nourishing the body, heart and community.

Located at 3120 South Packerland Drive, Off the Trail is an Indigenous-owned fast-casual restaurant that is committed to being affordable and fast, with freshness at the forefront.

The official Grand Opening ceremony started early, with a tobacco burning ceremony at 7:30 a.m., which is a traditional ceremony. The ceremony was led by Bear clan chief Bob Brown, and it preceded a ribbon-cutting at 8 a.m.

Off the Trail is owned and run by four enrolled Oneida Nation members, Jamie Betters, Apache Danforth, Jeremiah Danforth and Brian C. Wilson.

The location was initially empty, and then the four discussed the plan with Oneida Retail, the property manager, which led to the creation and founding of the new restaurant.

In a release, Apache Danforth said it’s about more than selling food.

“It’s about reconnecting with the land, embracing culture and building a space that reflects who we are as Oneida people—and who we are as a community and neighbors,” Apache Danforth said in a release.
