PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – Law enforcement responded to an incident inside a dorm room at UW-Platteville on Monday afternoon, prompting lockdowns on campus.
The situation occurred at Wilgus Hall. A preliminary investigation indicates that it was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
An in-person press conference was scheduled for 7 p.m.
Governor Tony Evers released a statement on the issue, saying, “I’ve been briefed on the situation at UW-Platteville, and we will continue to remain in close contact with university officials. As we await more information, please keep UW-Platteville students, faculty, staff, and the greater Platteville community in your thoughts.”
