GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – During a meeting on the night of June 10, Green Bay city officials say the Common Council appointed a new Alderperson for the District 8 seat previously vacated by Chris Wery.
According to a release from the City of Green Bay, Jim Ridderbush, a longtime west side resident, has been selected by the Common Council to be the new Alderperson for District 8.
Ridderbush is said to bring with him an extensive amount of experience in community leadership and labor advocacy, as he currently serves as the Vice President of United Food & Commercial Workers Local 1473 and is also a Labor Liaison at JBS Green Bay.

City officials say Ridderbush has been active in neighborhood associations and civic initiatives and has run for the District 8 seat in the past, showing his commitment to public service and Green Bay’s west side.
Ridderbush beat out two other candidates, Mark Anderson and Megan Borchardt, and will now fill the vacancy left by Chris Wery, who resigned after serving District 8 for 21 of the last 23 years.
The remainder of the current term, which runs through April 2026, will be served by Ridderbush as he joins the Council at a time that city officials state is “a time of continued growth and opportunity for Green Bay.”
We’re excited to work with Jim as he represents the residents of District 8, which includes wards 28, 29, 30, 31, and 32 on Green Bay’s west side. His dedication to working families and community engagement will serve our city well.
We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Chris Wery for his remarkable 21+ years of service to District 8 and the City of Green Bay. Chris stepped down to care for his family. His legacy of standing up for residents and keeping them informed will not be forgotten.
Welcome to the team, Jim! We look forward to working together to serve the people of Green Bay.
