Bay Beach Amusement Park full of crowds of people as it reopens for the season

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Families were overjoyed as Bay Beach officially opened its park to the public for the season on Saturday.

“It’s so wonderful,” said Nancy Boprey. “We’ve been bringing the grandkids here for years and they just love it.”

Nancy and her husband recently moved from Manitowoc to Green Bay so they could be closer to their grandkids and took them to Bay Beach on opening day for a day of fun.

“It’s always nice to spend time with your grandkids,” said Nancy’s husband. “And the rides are made a lot for the little kids which is good and the theme park’s so crowded, this is just a beautiful opportunity. Early spring, the best place to be, Bay Beach.”

For the Boprey Family, opening day at the Bay Beach amusement park means a family outing, for Riezmae and Isabel from West De Pere, it’s a chance to spend the day with friends.

“It’s fun because I’ve come here ever since I was a kid so there’s like a lot of nostalgia, even though there’s a lot of new rides,” explained Riezmae. “It’s just nice to come on the first day, get everything going.”

“And there’s a lot of people that we know here,” added Isabel.

The Manager of Bay Beach Amusement Park said this is his 29th opening day and the reaction to seeing so many people go in and out throughout the day is always the same.

“It just gets better every year,” said Jason Arnoldi. “I really couldn’t ask for a better day weather-wise and just for the crowd, we have a really good crowd out here today. Watching families out here again making memories, having a good time, and enjoying the rides, makes all that work during the off-season really worth it.”

He also said they were very busy in the off-season adding more rides, features, and other park amenities.

“We’re really excited for the return of the Bay Beast, it’s been gone for a few years but we brought it back and it’s about 15 feet higher,” And the new bumper cars, there are a lot more out there and it’s just a lot more fun”

Towards the end of the month and early next month, they anticipate the opening of their inclusive playground, a project that has been in the making for about 5 years.

Stacy Lewis also took her family to Bay Beach and was there as soon as the park opened.

“When it opened at ten o’clock we were here! Of course, we were here,” said Lewis. “We’ve been coming for years, even when I was younger so now I get to bring my nieces and enjoy it as well.

Lewis also saw a few familiar faces while she was walking around the park, running into several of her students.

“It was just great to see them outside and having fun and laughing and giggling and screaming on the roller coaster.”
