SUAMICO. Wis. (WFRV) – Despite the gloomy weather, families throughout the greater Green Bay area got a head start on Easter Celebrations at the NEW Zoo.
On Saturday, officials with the NEW Zoo hosted their annual “Eggstravaganzoo” event, promising activities for kids and adults, including games, treat stations, and a zoo-wide scavenger hunt. Those who attended the event also got to snap photos with the Easter Bunny, ride the zoo’s carousel, and feed some of the animals.

Organizers say the unique part of this annual event is how much the animals get in on the fun, too. NEW Zoo Education Manager, Angela Kawski, says the Zoo has special activities designed just for the animals.
When we do events like this, we definitely try to get the animals into the fun. So we have several different kinds of enrichment that we mean for the animals. We have some giant banners, we have some papier-mache eggs that are stuffed with toys and treats. So a lot of the animals have those toys out and about. So as you’re walking around, you’ll definitely see them playing with those.

The event on Saturday ran from the morning through most of the afternoon, giving local families the chance to celebrate Easter weekend with a little extra fun at the Zoo.
