POLK, Wis. (WFRV) – Two pigs were rescued from a fire in southeastern Wisconsin that started from an unattended grill after the homeowner was grilling burgers inside their garage.
A Facebook post from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office states that crews were called to a garage fire in the 3000 block of Sherman Road in the Town of Polk around 1:40 p.m. on March 25.

Crews arrived to find a detached garage on fire. The homeowner had reportedly safely moved two pigs from the garage and one vehicle safely away from the fire. However, a second vehicle parked near the garage could not be moved.
The fire had already spread to the side of the home, roughly 20 feet from the garage, and damaged several windows, the siding, and the roof. The fire had also spread to a truck parked in the driveway.
The fire was eventually put out, but the garage was deemed a total loss. Damage to the garage and contents was estimated at $63,000, and the damage to the residence was estimated at $30,000.

The release notes that the homeowner was cooking burgers on a gas grill inside the garage, which was then allegedly left on and unattended in the garage.
No injuries were reported.
