GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – AI data centers were the talk of the town as Green Bay leaders gathered for an event at UWGB on Wednesday night.
Data centers have become a bit of a recent hot topic and officials with New North Inc., an economic development agency, hosted the event to provide more information about what data centers are and what they are for.

They add that the event was not to shift or sway any opinions on data centers one way or another, but to help give local leaders the information they need to determine if a data center is right for their community.
The electeds can hear it, they can think about it, they can take it back to their community, and consider how it plays out in their communities. Some communities want data centers, others do not, and this is just information to help people make decisions.

Many communities have recently pushed back on the idea of welcoming an AI data center. Both Kaukauna and Greenleaf have passed resolutions to allow the city or residents to decide on the date center projects.
