APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – At Appleton International Airport, travelers are still moving through security like normal. But for TSA agents, the situation behind the scenes is far from routine.
With the partial government shutdown continuing, those officers are still showing up to work without a paycheck.

Now, the airport and community are stepping in to help.
Collection bins have been set up inside the terminal where people can drop off gas cards, grocery gift cards and nonperishable food. Donations can also be brought to the administration office on the second floor.

“It breaks my heart people are showing up to work and not being paid,” said Appleton airport traveler Noemi Quintanilla. “I’ve come across workers that have two jobs in my area, being Uber or Lyft drivers on the side because of these partial shutdowns. So if I can donate food or any items they need, I’d gladly do that.”
Appleton has more than 100 TSA workers who are showing up without a paycheck. The airport will continue accepting donations until an announcement is made that funding is restored.
