WISCONSIN (WFRV) – Ahead of polls opening April 7 for the spring election, early voting and absentee ballots started Tuesday morning as local municipalities gear up for another election.
“Just didn’t see the numbers today. But that doesn’t mean that, you know, tomorrow might not bring more,” said Michelle Bartoletti, Village of Suamico clerk. “As we are open the next two weeks for early in-person voting, we do anticipate that it’ll ramp up next week as it gets closer.”

In the Village of Suamico, more than a dozen eager voters cast their votes early between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
A slow start for voters heading to the polls, but clerks are expecting to see more voters throughout the next two weeks and on Election Day.
“Very important for our local races, and that’s what’s typically on the ballot for the spring election,” said Bartoletti. “There are some other things on there, but it’s our local races — very important.”
Over in the Village of Bellevue, officials saw more than 20 voters in that same time frame while also sending out more than 700 absentee ballots to voters.
Clerks say they work to make the polling place comfortable and organized for voters as they arrive to cast their ballots.
“We set up booths, make sure that none of the cameras are accessing where people are voting, get the booths, get the pencil, get the glue out,” said Village of Howard Deputy Clerk Lisa Loberger. “Set up so everybody knows what ballot styles are.”

Both villages have races for trustees, and for the Village of Suamico, a referendum on the $150 million question for the Howard-Suamico School District will be on the ballot.
Early voting ends April 3 at noon.
