WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin say a driver who fled from a traffic stop in early 2026 is now in custody after being arrested in Texas months after the initial incident.
According to a release from the Wauwatosa Police Department, on January 15, officers conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle, during which time a passenger moved into the driver’s seat and fled from the scene, initiating a pursuit.
The vehicle came to a stop in the front lawn of a home, and the driver ran away from the scene and was not arrested. After being stopped, police say they recovered three firearms from the vehicle, including a “ghost” gun and another that had been illegally turned into a fully automatic AR pistol.
