MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (WFRV) – The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix’s season came to an end on Friday night after the Minnesota Golden Gophers surged past the Horizon League champs, 75-58, powered by a barrage of fourth-quarter points.

The No. 13-seeded Phoenix started strong in the first half, leading the No. 4-seeded Minnesota Golden Gophers 29-26 on 46% shooting from the field and 50% from beyond the arc, with points coming from all over the lineup.
The Phoenix came out of the locker room hot, taking a 43-34 lead four minutes into the half, but the Gophers kept their composure, quickly getting back to a 43-39 deficit just two minutes later.
Green Bay kept itself in the lead heading into the final frame of regular time with a 49-45 lead after the third quarter, but Minnesota took control in the first 90 seconds of the fourth.

The Gophers surged out of the gates in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Phoenix 19-2 in the first 6:23 of the final frame to take a 64-51 lead, forcing Kayla Karius to take multiple timeouts along the way.
The Gophers outscored the Phoenix 30-9 in the final quarter.
