ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WFRV) – The Green Bay Blizzard opened up their 2026 season with a win over the defending champion Las Vegas Knight Hawks, 37-35, on Monday Night.
The last time these teams faced off was in August for the IFL championship game, which Vegas won 64-61. This time around, it was Green Bay making a key defensive play with under a minute remaining as newcomer, and first team all-IFL last year, Johnathan Ross held on to a fumbled handoff that fell right into his lap.
It was a very non-traditional game because of the record-setting snowstorm as the Resch Center was closed to the public, so the home opener was played in front of an empty arena.
Check out the highlights in the video above and hear from head coach Corey Roberson following the victory.
