NIAGARA, Wis. (WFRV) – A crash in Marinette County that blocked off all north and southbound lanes of traffic on U.S. 141 on Wednesday afternoon has led officials to conduct an officer-involved death investigation.
The crash, according to a Department of Justice release, occurred around 1:11 p.m. after a Niagara Police Officer attempted a traffic stop in the city, near the border of Wisconsin and Michigan.
The suspect vehicle reportedly sped off, swerving into oncoming traffic in the 1000 block of Main Street before colliding with a commercial vehicle.
The individual was given medical aid at the scene; however, they were pronounced dead. Nobody else was injured during the incident.

As is standard policy for the department, the involved officer will be placed on administrative leave.
The crash caused seven hours of lane blockages, which were cleared around 8:24 p.m. on Wednesday.
