Angelynn’s mom, Stephanie Swain, said in an email to Local 5 that they decided to adopt little Splash, just two weeks after the duo helped rescue the poor little kitten from troublesome waters.
Angelynn had run to the docks in an effort to rescue the kitten that day, and flagged down a pair of boaters who helped fish Splash out of the water. Angelynn wrapped Splash in her sweater for warmth en route to to the Door County Campus of the Wisconsin Humane Society.
Stephanie said in the email that Angelynn has been reunited with Splash.
“We made a decision and surprised her after school last night with Splash,” Stephanie’s email to Local 5 said. “She had no idea we were going to bring her home.”
Angelynn decided, however, that she would call Splash by a new name — Angel. The name came from Angelynn’s grandmother, whom she never got to meet.

“She said she wanted to name her after her grandma, whom she never met and is named after, since she’s our guardian angel watching over us as well as felt she was watching over her that day,” Stephanie said.
Stephanie added that Angelynn has always wanted to study veterinarian work and animal rescues, with the Splash rescue encouraging her even more, and that she can’t wait to be able to volunteer with the Humane Society.
