GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – After just nine months of operation, Next Level Pickleball announced it will be closing its Green Bay location in mid-September as the business shifts its focus toward expanding in Appleton.
According to a social media post, the Green Bay facility will officially close its doors on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The company plans to sell off its equipment, including C&D Pickleball nets, a Pickle Roll court surface, paddles, benches, a 75-inch TV, and other items. Discounted paddles and balls will also be available for purchase, with time slots to be scheduled for community members to stop by.
Wisconsin packaging plant to close, 48 employees affected
“We want to sincerely thank our Green Bay community for your support over the last nine months,” the post read. “This was not an easy decision, but ultimately, a change in vision for our company led us to focus our energy and resources on Appleton and future growth opportunities.”
While Green Bay’s closure marks the end of one chapter, the company says its Appleton location is thriving and “continuing to grow strong,” with plans to expand in the near future.
The move reflects a shift for Next Level Pickleball, which had previously signaled growth across northeast Wisconsin. The business debuted its indoor pickleball court model in Appleton in July 2024, later opening a location in New Franken, where demand quickly filled courts day and night. At the time, co-owner Mark Danen told Local 5 News that interest in pickleball across the region was strong enough to support multiple facilities.
Next Level’s model has catered to both newcomers and dedicated players by offering private, single-court rentals, giving players the space to set their own pace.
Despite the Green Bay closure, the company is encouraging fans of the sport to stop by and play one last time before the doors officially close.
“We hope with the rain over the next couple days you’ll come get one last chance to play with us before we close our doors,” the post added.
For now, the company says it will share more updates soon on its Appleton expansion, aiming to build on what has become one of the region’s fastest-growing recreational sports.
