KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WFRV) – The Kaukauna Public Library says it is in desperate need of donations to help keep the Little Free Pantry fully stocked with food.
The following kinds of items are urgently needed:
- Noodles
- Sauce
- Rice
- Canned soup
- Peanut butter
- Canned meats
- Jelly
- Cereal
- Oatmeal
- Canned Fruit
Canned vegetables are not needed as they’re the only item that’s in high stock. Library director Ashley Thiem-Menning says that the pantry has been around since 2017, and that while holiday seasons see a spike in donations, summer is far different for pantries.
“Summer is hard for a lot of pantries,” Thiem-Menning said. “For most of us, this is a challenging time of year, as people maybe kind of forget that the need is year-round, not seasonal.”
Thiem-Menning added that the library is for everybody, which could be critical for people who need to access food, especially after work.
“We’re open for 61 hours a week and for a lot of people who might be working and need food support, coming to a place that is open until 8 p.m., it’s nice that it’s here for anybody,” Thiem-Menning said.
