Deputies responded with numerous agencies as preliminary investigations indicated that a northbound driver on Highway 151 was trying to turn left onto Golf Course Road and stopped to yield.
While stopped, a northbound pickup truck failed to slow down and rear-ended the vehicle. A 20-year-old Fond du Lac woman was the sole occupant of the vehicle in front, as she was reportedly trapped inside before fire personnel extracted her.
She was taken to a hospital via a helicopter due to the severity of her injuries. The pickup truck driver, identified as a 38-year-old New Holstein man, was unharmed. Deputies say distracted driving is believed to have been a factor, though the incident remains under investigation.
Highway 151 was closed for a few hours due to the crash.
