Marinette County Sheriff’s Office address stop sign complaints with over 1,500 traffic stops in under six months

MARINETTE COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Officials in Marinette County are addressing concerns regarding the lack of people obeying stop signs in the area, specifically one that has caused many complaints.

The stop signs in question, according to a release from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, are located at County Highways X and A.

“This area, County A and County X, has been included with the numerous other requests that we receive and have been addressing, such as State Highway 180 and 41 and Kamm Road, etc., that have been the topic of much discussion with the numerous fatal crashes lately,” the release said.

In addition, the release mentioned that in 2025 alone, deputies have made about 1,550 traffic stops to date, and that officials will continue to address complaints as needed.
