Sochi had some Wisconsin winter conditions yesterday that made things a little challenging for outdoor events. It snowed like crazy and things were getting very icy.
Apparently that didn’t matter for Alex Deibold who took the bronze in men’s snowboard cross and David Wise won gold in men’s halfpipe freestyle skiing.
Lyman Currier fell during his second run in men’s halfpipe. Watchers could hear the cries of pain. He was eventually able to get up and ski straight down the course. He knew the worst had happened; hereinjured his ACL.
American skier, Mikaela Shiffrin, missed the podium by twenty-three hundredths of a second. She ended in fifth.
High school student, Emery Lehman, from Illinois and trains in Milwaukee, took tenth place in the men’s 10K speed skating event. His teammate, Patrick Meek took eleventh. Hearing that a seventeen year old has done so well at the Olympics makes me feel that I have done nothing with my life!
USA’s women’s bobsled teams are sitting first, third, and eleventh after two runs. They will have two more.
Men’s hockey semifinals against Czech Republic will play today at 11am! Ladies figure skating starts today as well.
Russia (6 gold, 8 silver, 7 bronze) and USA (7 gold, 4 silver, 10 bronze) tied in first with twenty-one medals. Netherlands sitting second with twenty total (6 gold, 6 silver, 8 bronze). Norway fourth with nineteen (8 gold, 4 silver, 7 bronze). Things are changing every day! With the totals being so close, it’s hard to say what the outcome will look like at the end of the games.
Listen in tomorrow and check back for your scoop!
