KEWAUNEE, Wis. (WFRV) – Farmers in Kewaunee County are incorporating portable traffic signal equipment to improve safety during road-based operations.
According to the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Office, the equipment will be used in areas where flagging operations are necessary and where workers would traditionally direct traffic.

“We have seen similar equipment deployed during public utilities and road maintenance operations, as it is much more cost-effective and consistent,” the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies also reminded motorists that the presence of the temporary signals is authorized, and failure to obey them carries the same statutory penalties as disregarding a permanent traffic light.
“This advancement in practices and equipment by our local businesses is greatly appreciated, as we keep Kewaunee County a safe place to live and work,” the sheriff’s office added.
