GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – In a record-breaking vote, 22,000 ballots were cast to name this year’s peregrine falcon chicks — and one of Local 5’s own is being recognized.
Four chicks at the Weston Power Plant were named after Wisconsin news anchors. Among them, Local 5’s Jade Henschel was honored with the name “Jade Eggshell.”

WPS and We Energies began installing peregrine falcon nest boxes at power plants in the early 1990s to support the species’ recovery in Wisconsin. Since then, 465 peregrine falcons have been named and banded at company facilities, representing about 20% of all peregrine falcons born in the state.
Officials say the program is part of ongoing efforts to support wildlife conservation and build a sustainable future in Wisconsin.
