(WFRV) – After being arrested and accused of 1st-Degree Intentional Homicide, a Shawano County man has been found not guilty by a jury on Wednesday.
In June 2022, the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office issued a release saying a woman had been found not breathing at 4:13 a.m. inside a Town of Wescott home. Despite life-saving efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy later ruled that the woman’s cause of death was strangulation, leading to the arrest of, at the time, 57-year-old Michael Ingold for 1st-Degree Intentional Homicide with a Domestic Abuse modifier and a $1,000,000 cash bond.
Just under 4 years later, Court records show, the now 61-year-old Ingold was found not guilty by a jury during a trial on April 29, 2026.
Despite being found not guilty of 1st-Degree Intentional Homicide, additional court records show Ingold, in a separate case, still faces eight counts of Battery or Threat to Judge, Prosecutor, or Law Enforcement Officer and two counts of Threat to Cause Bodily Harm to Certain Individuals Involved with a Court or Legal System.
He is due back in court for an adjourned initial appearance in that case on May 4, at 10:00 a.m. No other information is available at this time.
