KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WFRV) – Dusty the dog has quite the ‘tail’ to tell.
Last Thanksgiving, panic struck a Fond du Lac County household when a family’s dog, Dusty, left his home in Pipe and didn’t return.
Braving winter blizzards and spring storms, and with some likely help from local communities, Dusty persevered, although he refused to be captured.

Fast forward roughly five months, on April 29, the Kaukauna Police Department shared the great news that Dusty was finally caught and rescued, and after a gruelling endeavor, Dusty was reunited with his family.

Kaukauna PD credited The Hope Highway with assisting in the capture of Dusty with a ‘trap.’ It was noted that Dusty was microchipped, allowing him to be quickly identified and returned to his forever home.

“We want to thank the many concerned citizens who called in sightings and helped keep an eye out for Dusty over the past several months,” Kaukauna PD’s Facebook post states. “We’re proud to share this positive outcome and grateful to everyone who played a role in bringing Dusty home where he belongs.”
