According to Chadwick M. Elgersma, the United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, Dwayne Davis of La Crosse was sentenced on April 7 by Chief U.S. District Judge James Peterson for the charge, which he pleaded guilty to on January 12, 2026.
The investigation began on June 4, 2024, when a 16-year-old frantically called police in need of help after Davis threatened to murder them. Investigators learned Davis had trafficked the teen for sex.
Davis met with the teen in the spring of 2024, when the teen disclosed that they had been trafficked and abused before; however, Davis started taking them to his home in La Crosse for prostitution dates.
According to the release, Davis posted ads for the teen online and kept most of the money from prostitution dates. Judge Peterson called the actions monstrous and noted that Davis had a history of domestic violence.
