KENOSHA, Wis. (WFRV) – A beloved Wisconsin brewery that was briefly revived by a Milwaukee-based brand will now permanently shut its doors.
In August 2024, Lakefront Brewery invested in the Kenosha community in an effort to bring Public Brewing Company back from the brink of closure.

However, officials announced that due to increasing industry-related challenges, Public Brewing Company will cease operations and end production of its brands effective immediately.
“First and foremost, we want to thank all of the hardworking employees who put in an immense effort to bring Public back to life, and it was not without long days and tireless hands that this difficult decision was made,” officials with Public Brewing Company said in a statement. “We also want to thank the Kenosha community and downtown businesses that accepted us with open arms.”
Officials said they will now search for a new owner with a vision to revive the brewery and its historic downtown space. They are open to serious business proposals for turnkey brewing and restaurant operations, as well as leasing the property.
“As with any business closure, timing is never an easy aspect,” the statement continued. “We’re encouraging all Public Brewing Company employees to apply for summer jobs at Lakefront Brewery’s Milwaukee Beer Hall.”
