(WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin say a multi-agency effort has resulted in the recovery of a stolen trailer and the arrest of a suspect.
According to a release from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified at 3:10 p.m. on Friday of a suspect attempting to sell a stolen trailer from Dane County in Plover.
Through coordinated efforts between the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the Plover Police Department, the Portage Police Department, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect and their vehicle were identified.
A Flock camera search was conducted and found the vehicle to be in Portage. Deputies searched the area and found the suspect vehicle at a local hotel.

The suspect was found at the hotel and arrested without incident, but the stolen trailer was not yet located. Through cooperation with other parties, the stolen trailer was found and recovered in Marquette County.
22-year-old James Dixon from Markesan was arrested and booked into the Columbia County Jail on the following charges:
- 2 counts of Retail Theft
- 3 counts of Felony Bail Jumping
- Probation Violation
Dixon is also said to be the suspect of two separate gas drive-offs in the City of Portage. No other information is available at this time.
