(WFRV) – A Milwaukee man accused of chaining an underage girl in a basement and forcing her to drink puddle water was in court on Thursday.
Court records show 65-year-old David Boyd and his attorney were in court for a final pre-trial hearing. During the hearing, the state placed an offer to Boyd on the record, an offer he chose to reject.
The court then granted the defense and the State’s motion in limine, with a decision scheduled to be made in court at 8:30 a.m. on April 8. A jury trial remains scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on April 27.

(WFRV) – A Milwaukee man accused of chaining an underage girl in a basement and forcing her to drink puddle water did not appear in court as he was in custody during his latest hearing on Friday.
Court records show that 65-year-old David Boyd’s attorney was present for him while he was in custody. The defense requested both a final pretrial date and jury trial dates, which were granted.
Boyd’s next hearing is scheduled as a final pre-trial hearing on March 26 at 9 a.m. and a one-day jury trial on April 27 at 9 a.m.

(WFRV) – A Milwaukee man accused of chaining an underage girl in a basement and forcing her to drink puddle water was not in court during a scheduling conference on November 21.
Court records show that 65-year-old David Boyd’s attorney was present for him while he was in custody. The defense informed the court that they received discovery materials; however, they’re still waiting for a state offer.
A status conference has been set for December 5 at 8:30 a.m.

(WFRV) – A Milwaukee man accused of chaining an underage girl in a basement and forcing her to drink puddle water was in court on Monday while in custody.
Court records show that 65-year-old David Boyd and his attorney were in court as the court found probable cause after a motion to dismiss was denied.
Boyd pleaded not guilty and a scheduling conference was set for November 21 at 8:30 a.m.

(WFRV) – A 65-year-old Milwaukee man accused of chaining an underage girl in a basement and forcing her to drink puddle water was in court and has an attorney after months of rescheduled hearings.
Court records show David Boyd was in court by video while in custody on September 30, as his attorney appeared in court and was appointed on September 29.
A preliminary hearing is set for October 13 at 1:30 p.m.

(WFRV) – A 65-year-old Milwaukee man accused of chaining an underage girl in a basement and forcing her to drink puddle water had his cash bond doubled while he awaits counsel.
Court records show David Boyd was in court while in custody on Wednesday, and that his cash bond of $100,000 was changed to $200,000.
Boyd is still awaiting an attorney. An additional hearing is set for October 3 at 10:30 a.m.

(WFRV) – A 64-year-old Milwaukee man accused of abusing an underage girl by allegedly chaining her in a basement and forcing her to drink puddle water is still waiting for appointed counsel.
Court records show David Boyd was in court while in custody for a status conference on Monday to hear updates on appointed counsel. According to the record, the State Public Defender’s Office needs additional time.
Another hearing was set for 8:30 a.m. on September 3.

(WFRV) – The 64-year-old Milwaukee man accused of abusing an underage girl by allegedly chaining her in a basement while forcing her to drink puddle water was in custody for a video hearing on appointed counsel.
Court records show David Boyd appeared without legal representation again, as the public defender’s office continues to search for counsel for him.
The hearing was adjourned as the public defender’s office needs additional time to appoint counsel, while the state requested an additional hearing.
A status conference was set for 1:30 p.m. on July 28, 2025.

(WFRV) – A 64-year-old Milwaukee man accused of horrific abuse involving an underage girl appeared in court Wednesday as his case moves forward.
Court records show David Boyd appeared without legal representation, and the court determined he qualifies for a public defender. He is expected to be assigned counsel in the coming weeks.
Boyd is accused of chaining a young girl in his basement and forcing her to drink puddle water. He remains in custody as the legal process continues.
A status conference has been scheduled for June 25 at 8:30 a.m.

(WFRV) – The Milwaukee man accused of chaining up an underage girl in his basement and forcing her to drink puddle water had an adjourned hearing on Wednesday morning.
Court records show that 64-year-old David Boyd was not in court for the hearing as he was in custody; however, the court record states that Boyd refused representation from a State Public Defender with a retainer unfiled.
A status conference was scheduled for May 21 at 8:30 a.m.
Wisconsin man accused of chaining up underage girl in basement, forcing her to drink puddle water

(WFRV) – A man in southern Wisconsin had his cash bond set at $100,000 after allegedly chaining up an underage girl and being charged with multiple counts of sexual assault.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by Local 5, 64-year-old David Boyd is facing multiple charges following allegations of sexual assault and chaining a girl in a basement and not letting her leave.
On January 7, 2025, CPS received a report claiming an underage girl was sexually assaulted by her grand-godmother’s boyfriend, identified as Boyd. The alleged assaults happened when the victim was between eight and nine years old, the complaint said.
Authorities execute search warrants at two Wisconsin massage parlors amid prostitution allegations
The victim provided details to authorities of the alleged assaults. The complaint says a nurse practitioner found multiple scars on the victim, which the victim said were caused by Boyd using a knife on her.
Towards the end of February, the victim again spoke with authorities. She claimed that Boyd chained her arms to a pole in a basement. In the complaint, she also mentioned Boyd denied her food and was ‘chained up’ long enough that she missed several days of school.
The complaint said she told authorities she drank water on the floor while she was chained up.
On April 16, authorities executed a search warrant at a residence where they found items that were consistent with descriptions the victim provided. The complaint said there were chains found in the basement.
Authorities said they made numerous attempts to speak with Boyd. Eventually, he reportedly agreed to come to the Brown Deer Police Department to talk.
Boyd is charged with:
- Repeated sexual assault of a child
- Felony
- Up to 60 years in prison
- Physical abuse of a child, use of a dangerous weapon
- Felony
- Up to six years in prison (can be increased by six due to using a dangerous weapon)
- Trafficking of a child
- Felony
- Up to 40 years in prison
- False imprisonment
- Felony
- Up to six years in prison
- Repeated sexual assault of a child
- Felony
- Up to 60 years in prison
Court records show Boyd was in court on April 28 for his initial appearance. His cash bond was set at $100,000. The charges were field in Milwaukee County.
