Officials say the Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospitals program is designed to provide hospital leadership with meaningful, data-driven benchmarks that help them to better understand performance variation in order to help improve care for heart patients across the country.
The hospitals recognized on this Top 50 list are said to have demonstrated superior results across 21 different measures that included clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, extended outcomes, and patient experience.
This year’s analysis also discovered the following key findings nationwide:
- A 56% lower inpatient mortality index for coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) procedures among top hospitals compared to peers.
- Fewer complications for both CABG and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) patients, with PCI patients outperforming CABG by 10%.
- A 16% difference in 30-day mortality rates for CABG patients, favoring top hospitals.
- Nearly 20% lower average cost per case for heart failure patients.
Emplify officials say the achievement highlights the commitment of the Green Bay hospital to excellence in delivering outstanding outcomes to patients in cardiovascular care as well as the rest of the community.
