GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Just three weeks since being announced as the next superintendent of the Green Bay Area Public School District, Michael Hernandez stopped by Local 5 to chat with our Stacy Engebretson.

Hernandez discussed his vision for the future of the district and his experience in education, along with his excitement for the role.
“It’s extremely exciting, I’m kind of still in awe of it, but I’m humbled and excited,” Hernandez said.
Stacy asked Hernandez about what he thought made him stand out to the board, to which he cited his experience in large districts.
“I think through the past work, we’ve been able to create systems with fundamental shifts in Appleton and Madison,” Hernandez said.
Hernandez says he’s a family man, and that it couldn’t be more perfect for him to begin on July 1.

“My family is everything, I’ve been married for 25 years on July 1,” Hernandez said.
