(WFRV) – Authorities in Wisconsin report that no one is hurt after a World War I-era munition was found inside the basement of a Wisconsin home on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a release from the City of Beloit Fire Department, both police and fire personnel responded to a home on the 2600 block of Chatsworth Drive, as a munition from the World War I era containing unknown contents was found in the basement.

Through coordination with Rock County Emergency Management, a National Guard Civil Support Team and local hazardous materials teams were called to the scene to assist by providing guidance on what to do with the munition and helping to take mitigation actions.
The object was later determined to contain tear gas from World War I, but did not have any explosive risk and was turned over without any incident to the Dane County Bomb Squad.
