The Green Bay Public Works Department announced on Wednesday that crews are on major roads with tandem road graders and spreading trucks right behind to treat pavement; however, it will require multiple phases.
Officials say that as salt works through the snow, it will loosen, allowing another pass, but that it will take several days to regain ‘bare pavement’ on main roads.
According to the release, the full snow-fighting crew will be out on Thursday at 1 a.m. to work on main roads first and foremost, before moving to residential areas, alleys and city sidewalks, but warmer temperatures will aid in this mission.

A full priority list from the city was provided:
- Scraping main roadways, pushing snowbanks to restore lanes
- Plowing and scraping residential routes
- Re-opening walkways
- Clearing city-owned sidewalks
Neighborhoods may be brought to an ‘acceptable’ level in the coming days, as the recovery from the historic snowstorm far outweighs the normal response.
