(WFRV) – Our first of two systems for the rest of the week moves in this evening, bringing with it snow showers that could be heavy at times. As a south and southeast wind kicks in, that will attract warm air northward, changing it over to a light mix for locations along and south of HWY 29.
As our wind shifts around to the north and northwest tomorrow morning, the precipitation will turn back over to scattered snow showers Friday morning into the mid-afternoon.
A WINTER STORM WARNING goes into effect at 7 p.m. this evening until 1 p.m. Friday evening for Langlade, Marinette, Menominee (both MI and WI) and northern Oconto counties. This is where 3-6″ of snow is possible.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY goes into effect at 10 p.m. this evening through 1 p.m. Friday for Shawano, Door and southern Oconto counties. This is where 1-3″ of snow is possible. A slushy inch or less is expected for the Fox Valley.

Winds will pick up tonight, gusting 30-45 mph out of the southeast after midnight. Winds will turn around to the north and northwest and could gust as high as 45-55 mph tomorrow morning and midday.
A WIND ADVISORY goes into effect at midnight tonight through 6 p.m., where winds could gust to 45 mph. A HIGH WIND WARNING begins at 4 a.m. Friday morning through 4 p.m. Friday afternoon for our four southern counties, where winds could gust to 55 mph. High-profile vehicles need to take note of this, as driving will be tricky tomorrow.

That is storm number one — onto storm number two. This is looking like a significant winter storm Saturday night, Sunday and wrapping up Monday. For most, this will be all snow with a wintry mix potential southeast of Lake Winnebago.
12-18″ of snow looks likely for a majority of the WFRV coverage area in our first call, with isolated higher totals lakeside due to lake enhancement. Plan on significant travel impacts and disruptions Sunday and Monday.

A WINTER STORM WATCH has already been posted for northeast Wisconsin for this weekend’s storm.
