GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – The Green Bay Police Department is looking to expand its Community Service Officer program, offering people interested in law enforcement the chance to gain real-world experience.
While the Community Service Officer, or CSO, program is not a sworn position, it includes professional responsibilities that assist officers in several areas.

They help handle animal complaints, direct traffic, assist with security and more.
In addition to field responsibilities, CSOs often participate in community engagement events, helping officers build relationships with residents across the city.
Officials say the department is continuously recruiting for part-time positions, and this year marks the introduction of new full-time CSO roles.
The position pays $17.60 per hour and requires applicants to have a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license.
One current community service officer said the role offers valuable experience for those pursuing careers in law enforcement.
“I’m currently in the police academy, so I was looking for valuable experience that could help me become a patrol officer in the future,” said Green Bay Community Service Officer Rodolfo Ramirez. “What I really like about this department is that if I ever run into something challenging, I can ask any officer on the road, and they’re always willing to help.”
