The latest northeast Wisconsin weather forecast from Storm Team 5…
Winter won’t be going out without a fight as the month of March continues on. Nine more days of winter, and it will certainly feel like it this week!
Roads will be either wet or icy this morning after some drizzle formed earlier this morning in combination with temperatures at or below freezing. Bridges and overpasses especially could be slippery from ice accumulation, as well as elevated surfaces. A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY and WINTER STORM WARNING (far north) has been issued until 1pm for icy drizzle, then snow accumulation. Not all roads will be slippery as we did have recent warm weather that could be keeping the pavement from freezing over.

Following the drizzle/icy mist, snow will develop from west to east mid-morning into the afternoon and deposit a layer of slushy or wet accumulation. Snow totals look to be fairly small on the order of 0.5″ to 1.5″, also melting and compressing this afternoon as temperatures return back above freezing.
Two more rounds of wintry precipitation is anticipated later this week. The second wave will be Thursday night into Friday where snow or a wintry mix gets going, staying mostly snow to the north. The southern end of the area will get less than 1″ of accumulations, while areas to the north could see anywhere from 1 to 4″, with higher snow totals further north.
The third round will be the biggest impact of all. Depending on the track of this low pressure system, we could see either a long duration snow event, or a mixed precipitation event that will drop a wide range of totals across the state of Wisconsin. What we know so far is this will occur between Saturday night and Monday, with plenty of wind. Stay tuned as we get more data and let you know areas that will experience that largest impact throughout the week.
