According to the Lake Geneva Police Department, the investigation stems from a February 18, call around 1:30 a.m. reporting that a 37-year-old man was unresponsive and not breathing.
The caller reported that witnesses had been performing CPR before emergency responders’ arrival; however, the man was pronounced dead after first responders attempted life-saving efforts as well.
The investigation into the man’s death led officers to deem acute fentanyl intoxication to be a factor in the death, after an autopsy and toxicology report from the Walworth County Medical Examiner’s Office.
