(WFRV) – Officials in Green Bay have allowed the public to see what kind of situations officers can be faced with during the winter by sharing footage of recent ice dive and body recovery training.
In a video posted by the Green Bay Police Department, members of the department’s Dive Team can be seen going underwater at the Pulaski quarry with ice about 10 inches thick above their heads.
The first diver can be seen reaching a cliff face and beginning a search pattern while looking for a “body,” represented by a prop made of PVC piping.

After quickly finding the “body,” a second diver is shown diving under the ice to help assist the first diver bag the prop so that they can easily bring the “body” back to the surface.
The divers can be heard talking at one point in the video as they are equipped with a communications system designed to allow them to talk and communicate with one another while underwater.
Officials say the divers are also equipped with thick cables, which is what is allowing the divers to stay underwater and remain task oriented for long periods of time as the cables supply the divers with air from the surface instead of a tank on their backs.
