(The Hill) – President Trump on Sunday threatened Iran with “force never seen before” after the U.S and Israel’s strikes on the country, with Israeli forces also launching a new set of strikes Sunday.
“Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever hit before. THEY BETTER NOT DO THAT, HOWEVER, BECAUSE IF THEY DO, WE WILL HIT THEM WITH A FORCE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE! Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump said in an early morning post to Truth Social.
On Saturday morning, the U.S. and Israel launched strikes amid simmering tensions in the region. Shortly after the strikes, Iran retaliated by launching drones and ballistic missiles at Israel and other Gulf countries.
Trump said Saturday the American bombing campaign in Iran could continue into the next week or go on for as long as “necessary.”
“The heavy and pinpoint bombing, however, will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD!” Trump said Saturday evening on Truth Social, also announcing that the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was dead.
On Sunday morning, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani wrote on social media that the Middle Eastern country will “hit” the U.S. “with a force that they have never experienced before.”
In its own Sunday post on the social platform X, the Israel Defense Forces said that it was “striking targets belonging to the Iranian terror regime in the heart of Tehran.”
“Over the past day, the [Israeli Air Force (IAF)] conducted large-scale strikes to establish aerial superiority and pave the path to Tehran,” the Israeli military continued in the post, which featured video of buildings being blown up with the caption of “Dismantlement of a headquarters of the Iranian terror regime.”
Also on Sunday, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed three U.S. servicemembers have been killed in the military operation in Iran, while five members were seriously injured.
