(NewsNation) — Social Security recipients can expect a mostly regular payment schedule in March.
More than 7.4 million people, including seniors, adults and children, receive Social Security and Supplemental Security Income benefits, according to the latest data from the agency.

The SSA staggers retirement payments by birth date, meaning everyone will get paid on a different Wednesday.
- Wednesday, March 11: Birth dates between the 1st and the 10th
- Wednesday, March 18: Birth dates between the 11th and 20th
- Wednesday, April 23: Birth dates between the 21st and 31st
For Supplemental Security Income recipients, this month’s payment has been rescheduled for Feb. 27, as the first of the month falls on a Sunday.

People who have been receiving Social Security since before May 1997, or for those receiving both Social Security and SSI, a payment is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3.
The SSA recommends that beneficiaries who don’t receive a payment on their due date first contact their bank or financial institution to see if there was a delay. If not, the SSA recommends calling 1-800-772-1213 or contacting a local Social Security office.
Social Security trust fund faces early end
A recent analysis from the Congressional Budget Office found that one of the two funds the SSA taps into to disburse benefits could run out sooner than expected.
In its Budget and Economic Outlook: 2026 to 2036 report, CBO estimated the Old Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund will be exhausted by 2032. In 2025, it was estimated the fund would run out by 2033.

Retired Americans would still get their Social Security money in the event that the trust fund reserves run out, but they would not get all of it.
