GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – In a month where multiple legendary video gaming franchises are celebrating milestone anniversaries, the Brown County Library and Game Trade of De Pere partnered for another Celebration of Video Games on Saturday.

From classic games like Tetris, Galaga, Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Sunshine to newer games like Super Mario Odyssey and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, there was plenty of fun to go around.
Research Librarian Katie Boecher said the event was part of the library’s Level Up program, which celebrates both old and new games with the gaming community.
“It’s a celebration of video games and a wonderful coming together of community around people who enjoy video games,” Boecher said. “We’re celebrating the wonder of video games and how they bring communities together.”

Gamers of all ages gathered in cosplay as well, dressing as their favorite characters from various games like Deltarune and Pokémon, which turns 30 on Friday, February 27. People got the chance to ‘adopt’ a Pokémon action figure featuring plenty of beloved creatures.
It wasn’t all about playing video games, as there were plenty of art activities, all themed around a celebration of gaming.
