WISCONSIN (WFRV) – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced it will end frozen road declarations for all zones across the state beginning Friday.
With the change, Class II road restrictions will take effect for Zones 3 through 5 on state highways that are susceptible to damage from heavy trucks during the spring thaw as frost leaves the ground.

Seasonal posted road restrictions will also go into effect in Zones 4 and 5. Officials noted that county highways, town roads and city and village streets may also be posted or limited to legal load limits or lower.
Decisions to place or lift weight restrictions on local roads are made by local units of government.
