GREEN BAY, WIS. (WFRV) – This week, the Green Bay Packers and their outreach program are honoring veterans with exclusive experiences as a part of their Salute to Service campaign.
The Packers community outreach program turned 1265 Lombardi Avenue into a place of healing and remembrance, honoring families who have lost loved ones in military service.

Ten families from the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors — or T.A.P.S. — were invited to take part in a day of reflection and togetherness. The event featured a lunch, a Lambeau tour, and a special project where families built wooden American flags alongside Packers players.

“This is really about celebrating and honoring a loved one they lost,” said Amanda Weary, the Packers’ Community Outreach Manager. “We want to make new memories around the people they miss most.”
Diana Hosford, Vice President of Sports and Entertainment for T.A.P.S., said the partnership shows the power of sports to bring people together.
“Building wooden American flags with NFL players for the team their loved ones cheered for — that’s the magical art of sports,” Hosford said. “It’s amazing.”
For families like Dawn and Roger Millard from Whitewater, who lost their son in 2011, the experience was both emotional and uplifting. “It’s overwhelming that so many people appreciate what our kids have done and are willing to give back to us,” Dawn said.
Packers offensive lineman Darian Kinnard – this year’s 2025 Salute to Service Award nominee for Green Bay– said the players were just as moved by the experience.

“It’s heartwarming to know you can bring some light to these families’ days and let them know we care,” Kinnard said.
The Packers are hosting similar events throughout Salute to Service Month, many of which will be highlighted during Monday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles — ensuring that those who served, and the families who carry on their memory, are never forgotten.
