APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – The Appleton Fire Department responded to East Mitchell Avenue on Thursday afternoon to help put out a fire in the basement of a duplex that resulted in roughly $10,000 in damages.
According to a release, crews responded to the 400 block of East Mitchell Avenue around 2 p.m. on October 16 for reports of a fire at a home.
When crews arrived, residents were in the process of evacuating, and they confirmed that there was a fire in the basement of the duplex.

The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes and no injuries were reported.
Authorities say that the incident caused roughly $10,000 in damages and the cause is undetermined.
