MENASHA, Wis. (WFRV) – An officer in Menasha helped make a local community member’s day after assisting them when their vehicle stalled Tuesday evening.
According to a post on social media by the Menasha Police Department, CSO Reckner came across a stalled vehicle Tuesday evening on Oneida Street just outside the City of Menasha.
Instead of just moving on, he reportedly stopped to help the stalled vehicle by buying a gas can out of his own pocket from a nearby gas station.

CSO Reckner was then helped by a CSO with the Appleton Police Department, who stepped in with a gas card to fill the can before getting the stranded driver back on the road.
Officials say this is the second time CSO Reckner has had a recent positive interaction with the community, as he, without hesitation, went down a giant slip ‘n slide with the local neighborhood kids during the Menasha Parks and Recreation’s ‘Whoa H₂O!’ summer event.
Whether it’s building connections with our youth or lending a hand on the roadside, Jacob embodies what “Serving with Pride” truly means.
Thank you, CSO Reckner — and our partners at Appleton Police — for reminding us what teamwork and community look like.
