(WFRV) – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) held a media briefing this morning to prepare hunters for the upcoming archery and crossbow deer season, which runs September 13 through January 4.
DNR officials shared safety reminders, including always wearing a harness when in a tree stand, using a haul line to bring up an unloaded bow or crossbow, and operating ATVs and UTVs responsibly and sober.

This year also brings a change to deer management units in Wisconsin’s two forest management zones, especially in the Northern Forest Zone. The state has returned to a habitat-based deer management system.
The DNR says these updates will help ensure a safe and successful season for hunters across the state.
