On January 1st 2016 JP resolved to read 12 different books in 12 months; and wants you to share in the challenge! To help hold JP accountable we’ll be updating this page each time JP starts a new book. Read what he is or choose your own; either way resolve to read more in 2016!
JP’s 5th book of the year:
I love fiction…I love history…I LOVE HISTORICAL FICTION!!! So this novel takes place in the years leading up to the Revolutionary War. From the Boston Massacre through the signing of the Declaration of Independence. So far I love it! It’s all told from the perspective of some of the major players: John Adams on the colonists and General John Gage for the British. Benjamin Franklin, Paul Revere, George Washington, and Samuel Adams all appear as well. USA!!! USA!!! USA!!!

JP’s 4th book of the year:
I won’t lie…Man in the High Castle bored me…alot…and it disappointed me because of it. I did find myself looking around for other things to do to try and get myself out of reading it. And I stumbled upon 2 things: 1) Spring was near and 2) My house was a MESS! Seriously I own alot of junk and I need and want to downsize. So I found this book and decided to read it and put it’s principals into action. The good thing is the book says from the get go “Read the whole book FIRST; then put into practice” So hopefully come the end of May my house will be tidy and clutter free!

JP’s 3rd book of the year:
Pretend I’m Rod Serling for a moment: “Imagine if you will…a world where the U.S. lost WWII.” Yeah…that’s the premise of this historical fiction novel. And yes…I do have an ulterior motive for reading this. I’m gonna watch the series on Amazon when I’m done. Plus, in case it wasn’t evident by my desire to read an autobiography on our nations GREATEST president, I love history; so an alternate reality where the US loses intrigues me.
JP’s 2nd book of the year:
After the weighty tome that was “The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt” I’m sliding back into a genre that I’m familiar with…Sci-Fi. This month I’m reading a book called “The Aeronaut’s Windlass”. It’s the first book in a series called “The Cinder Spires” It’s a steampunk themed universe from Jim Butcher (the same guy who wrote The Dresden Files)…NERDS UNITE!
JP’s 1st book of the year:
I’m kicking off 2016 by reading about America’s manliest president since George Washington told the British to take a hike! The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt chornicles the life of Teddy R. from his sickly childhood (he suffered from severe asthma…til he murdered it, ate it, and gained it’s strength), through his rise to power from New York senate to Presidency.
